Roderick
created his Virtual Edition in 1997. Naming it after the Star Wars
Special Editions, he resolved to create an illustrated plotline
for the forthcoming prequels, starting with Episode I. |
His fansite
attracted attention from most major media both in the Netherlands
and Worldwide, as well as from Lucasfilm Ltd. |
In addition
to the artwork he was creating, examples of which you can see if
you follow the lefthand link, Roderick also introduced and managed
a forum, which, over the years, has become a formidable meeting
place for serious discussion ! |
A priest
in his early thirties from the Archdiocese of Utrecht, The Netherlands,
who formerly served a parish in Lopik, The Netherlands, in 2002 he pursued his PhD studies on the 20th century Catholic theologian
Hans
Urs von Balthasar
in Rome, Italy. He is also an internet editor for many Catholic
Church websites in the Netherlands, such as CatholicInsider (2005). Listen here as to how Star Wars became a Force in his life, and how the VE began ! |
In April 2011, he formally and graciously handed over fuller ownership of the VE.net to Nathaniel Reed. |

Nathaniel
Reed |
Until 2007 Nat worked in I.T. support and administration in Cardiff, UK, for almost 10 years ; then he trained as a Driving Instructor, fully qualifying in 2008. He comes from an art and design background, and has had design experience of stage productions as well as in the 2D and 3D media. |
He discovered Roderick's site when surfing the 'net one day in 1997 looking for information on the new Star Wars prequel film, 'Episode I'. |
He enthusiastically followed the
VE and its associated forum, contributing both artwork and speculation
! In 2000, Roderick made him a co-moderator of the forum. Since then,
he married, then moved to Gloucester, UK, and started a young family, but all the while remaining committed to the VE. |
Following the May 2005 release of Revenge of the Sith, Nat turned his thoughts to the Virtual Sequel Edition, and by January of the following year, along with VE forumer Scott Swearingin, the two began to create artwork to illustrate the story they had devised for episodes 7 to 9. |

Scott Swearingin |
Scott is employed full-time as an artist/conceptual designer in San Diego, CA. and first fell in love with Star Wars at age 7 in 1977. Even twenty years later, he was still devouring anything related to the Original Trilogy, the Special Editions, and the upcoming Prequel Trilogy ! |
It was then that he discovered the website for Roderick's Virtual Edition in a magazine article, and was compelled to try using a computer and getting on the internet to check it out. Scott quickly became a regular at the VE forum, contributing his discussion and speculative theories during those exciting days of Prequel production. |
Today, Scott is happy to count his burgeoning Photoshop skills among the range of his artistic talents, and is using the program to assist Nat in the creation of a Virtual Sequel Trilogy, carrying on the tradition established by Roderick so long ago. He co-drafts the Sequel Trilogy stories with Nat, and then formally writes them up in the 'script' format. |
In March 2015, Scott was forced to 'retire' from the Virtual Edition Sequel Trilogy project due to personal reasons. |
Nat Reed intends to continue with the VE-ST for as long as he is able..... |
