SOLO post-production wraps! 30th April 2018
On the 22nd of April, director Ron Howard confirmed that the post-production phase on SOLO had completed ! Following the drama of the directing duties, as well as the subsequent villain actor re-scheduling clash, and the possible negative reaction to Ehrenreich - Glover's Lando, not to mention Suotomo's Chewie also might steal the show - we await with bated breath as to how well this latest Star Wars instalment will fare.....
Earlier in the month the primary trailer was released, followed through the month by several TV spots. We get to see the official representation of industrial Corellia, as well as some of the action sequences and the banter not only between Han and Lando, but also between Han and Chewie too ! With a fleeting glimpse of Han desperately holding on to Chewie on the side of the Conveyex train during its heist, some commentators wondered if this would turn out to be the actual source of the "life debt", or if it will remain Han's actions in releasing the Wookiee from prison slavery ?
In its wake, a handful of TV spots were also released, showing us a few more glimpses of the upcoming adventure...

And at the end of April a behind-the-scenes / documentary style trailer was released, with interviews accompanying the clips.

On April the 26th, SW.com announced the latest animated project with Dave Filoni : Star Wars Resistance, in anime-style, set before The Force Awakens, with voice actors Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) and Gwendoline Christie (Phasma) and BB8, and a host of new characters. The site says, the series will follow "Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot recruited by the Resistance and tasked with a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order". The idea for Star Wars Resistance came from Filoni's interest in World War II aircraft and fighter pilots, and the enthusiasm for "high-speed racing and high-flying adventures".
In April I purchased the memoirs of Roger Christian. This is the autobiography of the set dresser and prop-maker of the original Star Wars.... essentially the man who built the lightsabre ! He describes his work on the 1977 movie, as well as on Ridley Scott'sAlien, and his minor work on subsequent Star Wars productions. I look forward to reading this soon !
