Episode VIII begins principal production at Pinewood & on location !

After a brief delay in January, Star Wars Episode VIII commenced principal filming in February at Pinewood Studios in the UK ! Notwithstanding some additional shooting last autumn at the 'Skellig Michael' island off Ireland, this marks the next chapter in the Saga. The Official Site noted the start, and confirmed the returning cast and new faces :

Clearly, this next chapter will illustrate Rey's training under the Jedi Master Luke Skywalker ; and might also reveal more of her parentage - whether she is a Skywalker, or a Solo [which I personally believe !], or even someone else entirely ! Both Daisy and John have been apparently training in fitness and fencing, so we can expect a lot of physical action from them ! Another dramatic question is the state and agenda of the First order, and its leader Snoke, now that their military action has been revealed to the New Republic at large, and that their 'Starkiller Base' has been destroyed.
In addition, pre-production on-location set dresssing was spotted in Dubrovnik, Croatia : the high rounded doorways are indeed intriguing and really could be anywhere and represent any familiar or new species.... but I recall a TFA rumour that had Leia address a Hutt Council, and I wonder if this rumour was actually for Episode VIII, and this architecture could be Hutt ??!

Details are starting to emerge about the date and content for the dvd / blu-ray release of The Force Awakens. There is still some confusion as to whether the release is scheduled for April or for May, but some of the extra content may contain up to seven deleted or extended scenes. Also the possibility that the dvd and blu-ray formats might be bundled together ?? Fan site StarWarsNewsNet lists some of the features :

| As Leia Solo rockets away from the exploding Imperial gas factory complex on Kessel, her 'Devil Squadron' of Mon Calamarian Corraller starfighters and the extra flight of A-Wings piloted by the seven Jedi Elders follow on her tail exhaust ! In the illustrated fan-fic Episode VII : Plague of Doom the nefarious aura gas production facility explodes, starting a chain reaction through the pipes and back into the cliff face in which the Imperial operation is hidden ! |
