The Prophecy
And in time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as : THE SON OF THE SUN.
And he shall bring Balance to the Force.

Episode IX filming comes to an end for some...
31st January 2019
At the end of January See Threepio actor Anthony Daniels announced that his filming on Episode IX had wrapped. This was not only bitter-sweet for him - the only actor to have starred in all of the 'Saga' films - but also for me, as the critic in me cannot but think that the ST episodes have denigraded the purpose of the character, and thus by extension the actor. Now, by having non-droids (Poe, Rey) understand more than the emotional voice of a 'binary tweeting' droid, it utterly removes the need for a protocol droid's translation, and also chips away at the engagingly attractive 'other-worldliness' of uncomprehensible droids and aliens. With Rey it could be said that she is conveniently fluent in droid-speak and Wookiee due simply to her growing phenomenal Force powers.... but that doesn't really sit well, and I'd have still preferred it if there had been a Wookiee in the background of Niima Outpost on Jakku... or that it will be revealed that she was indeed a Solo child, and had learnt Chewie's language at a young age.

In the virtual edition for Episode VII : Plague of Doom as our heroes slip through disused periphery mining tunnels, they suddenly come face to face with two troopers patrolling the perimeter !
Han and Leia all but bump into the troopers as they round a sharp corner, while Luke moves quickly to hold the droids back.
Suddenly, inexplicably, two large stones tear themselves from the mine tunnel wall, and crash into the troopers' helmets, knocking the guards to the ground !

Since the autumn, when I was wrapping up the virtual edition sequel trilogy with my version of Episode IX, I have been mulling over ideas for a possible 'Episode X and beyond' ! This next instalment would be set about five years after the epilogue of Duel of the Fates, with Han and Leia's two children about 7 or 8 years of age, and Luke and Alana's child about two years old ; with the 'curse' of no new Force-empowered Younglings lifted, the Jedi Order finds itself blooming with students ; following the paralysing conquest of the bogan across much of the galaxy, there is a great refugee movement as people return - not necessarily harmoniously - to their home worlds ; these refugee and supply transports find themselves under increasing attacks from pirates ; and what is left of the Imperial Remnant is demanding from the Alliance a safe re-settlement deal.
