Check and checkmate : the endgame of the Temple duel begins !
21st March 2010 |
With Mon Mothma publicly revealing the evil Imperial plans for mass drugging and population control, and a populist mob marching against the Emperor's Palace on Coruscant, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, aided by the Force-strong Alana Seren and Galactic Alliance marshals, gains entrance to the erstwhile Jedi Temple. Leaving Alana and the troopers to secure the perimeter and ground levels of the Imperial Palace, Luke enters the dark interior of the red-adorned Royal Seat. |
As he cautiously moves through the Palace - once home to a thousand generations of Jedi Knights - and ascends each level, from the shadows the Sith Lord Darth Kayos springs out at him. He is surprised to see a Sith Lord again, but is not amazed to discover the warrior's alter-ego is none other than Emperor Amedda's second-in-command, Sly Moore ; these two Imperial adversaries were of course instrumental in securing Chancellor Palpatine's stranglehold over the Old Republic in the days of Luke's father. The skilled Jedi duels the Dark Lady through many corridors and rooms, chambers and hallways, and the combatants find they are almost evenly matched in their abilities ! As they tire, they both know the endgame is upon them.... |

As both Scott and I have done before with Episode VII locales, the creation of the Imperial Palace interiors requires meticulous and methodical image editing correction work. Taking several screenshots from the relevant movies, not only do we have to carefully remove the characters moving through the screen, but also attempt to correct potential perspective distortion caused by camera panning. If one is successful, then a 'clean plate' is created, into which new characters, environment designs, and light and weather can be then be re-incorporated. |

Elsewhere, the Official Site has provided further details of a new historical tome looking at the production history of the Star Wars Saga, from the films to the Clone Wars series and the EU material, side by side with real-world events that co-spanned the 40 year tenure. |
To commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Episode V : The Empire Strikes Back, SW.com has been re-producing old articles and interviews, and collating similar material into new presentations. Irvin Kershner and Lawrence Kasdan interviews have been provided, as well as an anthology of insightful commentaries on the making of the AT-AT sequence, with more such revelations promised to come ! |
