Star Wars Original Trilogy on dvd !

| For the first time ever, more than 25 years after the original release of A New Hope, the trilogy of films, Episodes IV, V, and VI, are now available on the dvd format ! |
| A full boxset package with further 'tweaking' to the films, including commentaries, and a fourth bonus disc hosting a two and a half hour in-depth documentary following the creation of these three seminal movies. Additionally, featurettes and galleries round out the extras. It may not sate the appetite of every critical fan, but everyone will be grateful for the films' release on this resilient format ! |
| Here in the UK, the boxset was released on monday the 20th of september, whilst the tuesday marked their appearance in the United States. No doubt the remaining international releases will occur very soon. The BBC News website even has a late update marking the dvds' impact on the retail scene today !! Speaking personally, it will be a joy to work my way through this long-awaited set ! |

It's a Wrap ! Star Wars photography ends.

| Friday september the third 2004. A day long remembered. The day when additional principal photography on Star Wars Episode III : Revenge of the Sith wrapped, and the Saga as a whole, from this point of view, came to an end. |
| For sure, ILM has until April 1st 2005 to meet their vfx deadline, and shooting will continue on the ILM stage, as well as for any remaining 'plate' material, but the 'lensing' for all six episodes, over 20 years, has now concluded. |
| The second half of the fortnight's UK "pickup" shooting has been as exciting as the first, with the tantalising presence of additional scenes ! These pickups are derived from the evolving edit of the film as it is being cut, and covers such requirements as reaction shots, transition sequences, and sometimes new dialogue. |

| We saw the completion of the Jedi Temple scenes, including the new view of the Council as a slowly revolving hologram as seen from the theatres of battle ; also two new situations involving Anakin with Mace and Yoda ; and a glimpse of the terrible events affecting the Jedi as seen by the youngling padawans. |
| Count Dooku returned in the guise of Christopher Lee and Dan Robinson ... the Sith Lord's stunt double. Further work on the opening fight-and-flight sequences in the Separatists' spacecruiser were carried out, and we learned that a certain amount of these 'peril' scenes have now been trimmed from the edit to retain pace and originality. Further scenes were grabbed in the Tantive IV, including the cockpit, where Jeremy Bulloch - the actor who played Boba Fett in Empire and Jedi - is one of the Alderaanian pilots ! Within this subscribed section, fans can access this image gallery of stills taken on board the ill-fated starship. |
| Additional shots of Tion Medon's fearsome entourage were filmed to befit the planetary leader, as were extra scenes with the prominent Jedi Counsellors, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Saesee-Tiin, Agen Kolar, Kit Fisto, and Shaak-Ti. And excitingly, what was described as "a couple of standalone Sidious inserts from later in the film" might just be the moments when the Master of the Sith finally withdraws his hood and reveals his terrible visage ! |
| Also, after a somewhat lengthy absence for the impatient fan, the ninth 'Making Of' webdoc was released to 'Hyperspace' subscribers on the 2nd. Focusing on C-3PO, we learn the perils of film-making inside the golden suit, appreciate the cast and crew reaction to working alongside the iconic droid, and gain hints on where the character fits in to the Episode III plot ! |
