Unveiling the Virtual Edition of the Sequel Trilogy
- Episode VII Plague of Doom

20th September 2006
The Virtual Edition Sequel Trilogy (VE-ST) now has a new subsection on the site. You can access the episodes as they are revealed via the links to the left, or go to the main 'portal' page here.
We will be unveiling each episode sequentially, so episodes VIII and IX will not be visible for a while yet. However, Scott and I are proud to announce STAR WARS Episode VII Plague of Doom, and present galleries of full size artwork, both conceptual and finalised, that we have created for this instalment to the nine-part Saga !
You will see that the art galleries are arranged by location, and I can reveal that the planets are listed in the order our heroes visit them : from Mon Calamar to Townowi (a name from the old movie drafts !), then on to the Hutt worlds of Nal Hutta and Kessel, and finally Coruscant.
As our work progresses, we will showcase new artwork here on the monthly VE.net editorials, as well as in the permanent galleries.
We have both been busy these last few weeks. We have created the following 'opening crawl' that, like all the other preceeding Star Wars episodes, brings the audience up to speed with what's been happening.... [Refresh this page to re-load the animation]
Meanwhile, Scott has created this amazing view of the command centre on Aquilae, the coral-housed hidden rebel base on the ocean world of Mon Calamar.
Han, Leia, Luke, and the droids learn some disturbing news on the Mon Cal coral island Aquilae. Artwork by Scott.
Fans of Ralph McQuarrie's Star Wars artwork will recognise the elements on the left hand side taken from his Hoth base paintings !
From here, our friends will travel to the grass world of Townowi, and begin their investigations into a new menace that will threaten to engulf the galaxy before the security of the Jedi Knights can take hold....
And we are proud to announce the 'casting' of two actors to join the continuation of the Star Wars Saga : Hannah Spearritt (of the Conway Van Gelder Grant agency) and Pete Postlethwaite (of the Markham & Froggatt agency).

Hannah will take on the role of princess Alana Seren of Townowi who is caught up in the galaxy-wide turmoil following the destruction of the Second Death Star, while Pete's steely features will set him in good stead as the evil Imperial Commander Kane.
Imperial Officer, Kane. Early concept artwork by Nat.
In official news, the Original Trilogy of Episodes IV, V, and VI have been re-released on three dvds. This package presents the 2004 OT release, along with their original '77, '80, and '83 theatrical counterparts. StarWars.com has accompanied the release with a wry look at life back then !!
